Objective:
The goal of this project is to build a self self-sufficient mini ecosystem to learn about ecology

Hypothesis:
I think that my terrarium will be a stable ecosystem until the ladybug dies. I will have a abundant food source for the aphids and they will reproduce crating enough food for the ladybugs. However I don't think I can support a mating pair of bugs.

Procedure:

Day 7The succulent is thriving ad displaying minor signs of growth. The have not shown a visible sings of damage aphids, but are still alive. The ladybug seems to be doing OK, and the earthworm is not viable. Bi-daily watering will continue. The temperature has not changed drastically because it is indoors, but as a whole it has gotten cooler.
|
Day 24
Over the break the plant broke through the plastic lid and it appears that both the ladybug and aphids have escaped. They will hopefully be reintroduced. The plant is looking not quite as well, but it is to be expected after 9 fays without water. Bi-daily watering will resume. The temperature has gotten significantly lower, but the plant has fared well.

Day 48
Analysis
Limited space has forced the plant to break out of the container. The plentiful water supplies and nutrients have enable the plant to grow beyond its planed growth. This over expansion has allowed the bugs to escape. The water would have mostly been absorbed by the plant and made into sugar or evaporated back into the environment. Carbon would have been absorbed form the soil and made into sugar, then repeated out. Nitrogen would have been also been absorbed from the soil.
